The CHUV is one of Switzerland’s five university hospitals, as are the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG), another founding member of the SCCL.
Its five current sites, with 1,568 beds, employ over 11,000 staff. In 2018, 51,274 patients were hospitalised. Two further sites are under construction.
In 2019, a Newsweek magazine poll ranked the Lausanne University Hospital in its top 10 leading hospitals worldwide.
The CHUV, in accordance with its state mandate, has three key missions: care, training and research.
